Central CCAC Votes for ONA

20 Jun 07 -- On June 5, 2007, the Central CCAC representation vote was held as a result of the Public Sector Labor Relations Transition Act. The representation vote was held to determine the bargaining agent for the Central CCAC all employees bargaining unit as awarded by the Ontario Labour Relations Board on May 11, 2007, which includes Case Managers and Office and Clerical employees.

Results of the vote

436 CCAC employees out of the total 488 employees cast their ballots on vote day.

  • Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) recieved 178 votes.
  • Canadian Office and Professional Employees (COPE) recieved 178 votes.
  • Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) recieved 79 votes.

To win this campaign a union had to achieve 50% plus one of the ballots cast.

Second Vote

The vote was held again on June 19, 2007 with only ONA and COPE on the second ballot.Of a possible 488 voters 430 voted. The results were:

  • ONA received 240 votes.
  • COPE received 188 votes.

The Central CCAC ONA Campaign Team has worked very hard to secure support for ONA as the union of choice for CCAC employees, and we look forward to representing these new members.
