Description:

 

 In this workshop, the learner will:

  • Outline legislation that impacts members’ rights, including the Duty of Fair Representation.
  • Outline the grievance process, examine settlement options and the benefits/disadvantages of arbitration.
  • Outline the role and accountabilities of the Grievance Committee.
  • Refer to Policy 14.1: Member’s Rights and Resolution of Conflict.
  • Review the seven tests of just cause in discipline cases.

 

The workshop is designed for Grievance Committee members, Bargaining Unit Presidents and Unit Representatives.

Note: Ideally, workshop participants will have participated in the Grievance Process prior to attending Grievance Arbitration.
