Earlier this year, ONA launched a four-year action plan that will help guide our union in addressing the ongoing racism and oppression that exists for so many of our members and staff, and within our communities. In order to explore how the action plan can best support you, the Anti-Racism & Anti-Oppression (ARAO) Working Group would like to know:
What issues can you identify in your Bargaining Unit or Local that relate to anti-racism and anti-oppression?
Examples could include, but are not limited to:
- Members or communities that have been marginalized.
- Members or communities that have been targeted because of their religion or spiritual belief.
- Difficulty talking about racism, oppression and marginalization in the workplace or the community.
Please recognize that this is not a formal complaints process, but rather an opportunity to share issues to identify possible trends in the various Regions and inform the regional roll out of the ARAO Action Plan. Your responses will only be read by members of the ARAO Working Group, however, please do not include personal identifiers. As leaders, if you require support for a specific, existing issue, please contact your Labour Relations Officer. Members should contact their Bargaining Unit leadership for assistance.
