National Nursing Students' Week 2024

November 4, 2024

During National Nursing Students' Week (NNSW) we recognize the work and commitment of nursing students across Canada. This year, NNSW runs from November 18 to 24, starting with National Indigenous Nursing Students’ Day on November 18. The Canadian Nursing Students’ Association (CNSA) chose this week as it coincides with Mary Seacole’s rumoured birthday of November 23, 1805.

Nursing students are the future of our profession and the advocates and activists of tomorrow. Almost all nursing students in Ontario are automatically affiliate members of ONA. ONA is proud to support and advocate for nursing students and provide opportunities for their engagement and development.

This year the CNSA has announced a set of awards in celebration of National Nursing Students Week. There are four $250 awards for each chapter region and two $500 awards for Canadian Indigenous Nursing Students, for a total of 18 awards. Full details and applications can be found on the CNSA website. Applications are due by Nov. 10.

Each Chapter school organizes their own NNSW events and ONA members are encouraged to learn about and support events in their communities. For more information, please contact the CNSA's NNSW coordinator at membership@cnsa.ca.
