There are many programs and resources available to assist members in building the skills required for leadership positions at the Bargaining Unit, Local and Provincial levels, so they can represent members in all aspects of service delivery and ensure their rights are protected.
Our Learning Pathways document highlights workshops and education that assist members in developing leadership skills.
Our annual Leadership Summit is a week-long, in-person program that aims to hone leadership skills and empower members at all levels of experience, from grassroots activists to seasoned executives. It is a great opportunity to build relationships and share information and experiences.
Participants are typically divided into streams based on leadership experience or topics of interest. Executive teams should consider their Local/Bargaining Unit’s learning needs and which of their leaders would be motivated and engaged by this kind of educational opportunity.
Details about our next Leadership Summit, including application information, will be posted here when they are available.
Under the ONA Constitution, a Bargaining Unit shall have representation for Negotiations, Grievances, Human Rights and Equity, Labour-Management, Occupational Health and Safety, and Workload and Professional Responsibility. Locals and Bargaining Units may develop other opportunities to get involved.
