Each year communities and organizations across Canada take time in March to recognize the hard work, dedication, resilience and compassion of social workers. In Ontario, we honour these caring professionals during the first week of March (March 2-8, 2026.)
The 2026 theme is "Care. Insight. Together." We recognize the ability of social workers to blend compassion with critical thinking and lived understanding. We celebrate the difference they make in communities across Ontario when their care and insight come together.
Social workers support Ontarians in diverse settings and communities in navigating challenges, including family violence, addictions, caregiver stress, abuse and bullying. They use their unique expertise to identify causes of stress, help with the development of coping skills, find solutions to problems and connect people with the resources they need.
The Ontario Nurses’ Association is proud to count social workers among its members. These highly skilled professionals enhance the health-care system and people’s overall quality of life by helping them participate more fully in relationships, work, home and community life.
The Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW) has created a poster along with other resources to celebrate Social Work Week 2026, which can be found on their website. They are also hosting several events throughout the month, both online and across Ontario.
