| Your Workplace | Human Rights & Equity | Anti-Racism, Equity and Human Rights Summit

Every year, the Ontario Nurses’ Association holds an Anti-Racism, Equity & Human Rights (AREHR) Summit, bringing members together for learning, connection and collective action on the human rights and equity issues affecting their workplaces, communities and the health-care system.

The AREHR Summit (formerly the Human Rights and Equity Caucus), creates space for members from equity-deserving communities to share their experiences, identify common concerns and exchange strategies for challenging discrimination and advancing equity. It also provides opportunities for allies to strengthen their understanding, demonstrate solidarity and take meaningful action alongside members from equity-deserving communities.

ONA’s AREHR work includes the following groups:

  • Francophone members
  • Indigenous members
  • 2SLGBTQI members
  • Members living with disabilities
  • Racialized members
  • Allies

We recognize that no community is monolithic. Members hold multiple, intersecting identities that shape their experiences of inclusion, exclusion, discrimination and belonging. Programming is designed to reflect these diverse realities and amplify the voices of members whose experiences may not always be heard.
