HAMILTON, ON., October 31, 2023 – The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), the union representing more than 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, is excited to welcome nurse practitioners from Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Home and Community Care Support Services.
The nurse practitioners (NPs) voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining ONA, the country’s largest nurses’ union.
“We are honoured and delighted to welcome these highly educated NPs to our union and look forward to representing them,” says ONA Provincial President Erin Ariss, RN. “They contacted ONA because of concerns they had regarding a lack of transparency and wage equity at HNHB HCCSS and they want to have a voice in their workplace.”
The NPs voted on September 25 and 26 to join ONA. ONA offers a wide range of programs and supports to its members.
ONA is the union representing more than 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
