November 6, 2023

KINGSVILLE, ON., November 6, 2023 –The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), the union representing more than 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, is thrilled to welcome registered practical nurses (RPNs) and personal support workers (PSWs) from Augustine Villas Retirement and Assisted Living to our membership.

The nurses and PSWs have voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining ONA, the country’s largest nurses’ union.

“We are delighted to welcome Augustine Villas Retirement and Assisted Living workers to our union and look forward to representing them,” says ONA Provincial President Erin Ariss, RN. “These workers contacted ONA because they need the support of a strong union to address issues such as wages, fairness, respect and transparency.”

The RPNs and PSWs voted on October 23 and 24 to join ONA. ONA offers a wide range of programs and support to its members.

ONA is the union representing more than 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
