Registered Nurses at Stedman Community Hospice Vote to Join ONA

November 28, 2023

BRANTFORD, ON., November 28, 2023 – Registered nurses (RNs) with Stedman Community Hospice have voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA).

“I am very happy to welcome the RNs from Stedman Community Hospice to our union,” said ONA President Erin Ariss, RN. “These hospice nurses provide incredible hospice care and ONA membership will provide them with excellent representation.”

The RNs are seeking better transparency, improved communications and clear processes from their employer, as well as wage equity, job security and a voice at the table to improve working conditions, so that they can focus on providing high-quality care.

Ariss notes that ONA already represents the RNs at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre in Brantford, which is connected with Stedman Community Hospice. “ONA prides itself in supporting our members as they find their collective power in union membership,” she says.

ONA is the union representing 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
