Ontario Nurses’ Association Appoints Interim First-Vice President Alan Warrington

January 2, 2025

TORONTO, ON, January 2, 2025 – The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) Board of Directors has appointed an Interim First Vice-President. ONA Board member and Registered Nurse Alan Warrington has assumed the role of Interim First Vice-President, effective January 1, 2025.

The Board’s decision comes following the retirement of former First Vice-President Angela Preocanin on December 31.

Alan will serve as Interim First Vice-President until an election can be conducted to fill the position on a permanent basis. Alan will continue to fulfill his responsibilities as ONA’s Region 5 Vice-President with the portfolio of Labour Relations (Contract Administration) during this period.

Provincial President Erin Ariss, and the entire Board of Directors, express their gratitude to Alan for shouldering these additional responsibilities and helping to ensure a smooth transition. Together, they are committed to tackling the immediate challenges facing nurses and health-care professionals with unity and resolve.

ONA is the union representing 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
