Brantford Registered Respiratory Therapists Vote Unanimously to Join ONA

November 21, 2023

BRANTFORD, ON., November 21, 2023 – Registered respiratory therapists (RRTs) providing care at Brant Community Healthcare System have voted unanimously to join the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA).

“I am delighted to welcome these highly educated health-care professionals to our union,” said ONA President Erin Ariss, RN. “Brantford RRTs have joined a long list of healthcare professionals from across Ontario in claiming their power to take collective action as part of our union. We look forward to representing them all.”

The RRTs have been growing increasingly concerned about the worsening acuity levels of the patients they are treating. They also note that their employer has been making changes to their role; they are now taking action, demanding respect from their employer and more appropriate remuneration in keeping with the roles and responsibilities they fill.

ONA is the union representing 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
