Haldimand Family Health Team Nurses and Health-Care Professionals Vote to Join ONA

August 26, 2026

CALEDONIA, ON, August 26, 2026 – Registered nurses (RNs), nurse practitioners (NPs) and health-care professionals have voted to join the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), using their collective voice to improve their working conditions and care for all Ontarians.

“As members of ONA, these RNs, NPs and health-care professionals – including a psychotherapist, social workers, a kinesiologist, a dietitian, administrative staff and a certified respiratory educator – are united with ONA’s 68,000 members to advocate for fair workplaces and better care for all,” says ONA Provincial President Erin Ariss, RN.

“Currently, this employer is seeing high turnover rates and is failing to maintain a workplace that respects and recognizes the health-care professionals at this family health team for their critical work caring for patients. It is unacceptable, and membership in ONA will help empower and strengthen them able to fully advocate for their patients and each other.”

The 22 workers will also join other ONA members to fight attacks on the publicly funded and delivered health-care system, and for greater investment, including in primary care.

“Ontario nurses and health-care professionals continue to fight in the face of government attacks on the public health-care system we all need and rely on. We welcome Haldimand Family Health Team nurses and health-care professionals to our union and look forward to fighting alongside them,” says Ariss.

ONA is the union representing 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
