HENSALL, ON, September 9, 2026 – Registered nurses (RNs) providing care to residents of Queensway Long-Term Care Home have unanimously voted to join nurses and health-care professionals across the province in using their collective voice to improve their working conditions and care for all Ontarians by becoming the newest members of the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA).

“As members of ONA, Queensway Long-Term Care Home RNs have become united with ONA’s 68,000 members to advocate for fair workplaces and better care for all,” says ONA Provincial President Erin Ariss, RN.

“Our long-term care home RNs have serious concerns with very heavy workloads that are putting their residents at risk, a serious lack of communication as the move to a new building happens and about issues related to scheduling. Membership in a strong, vibrant union like ONA gives them a voice to more fully advocate for both themselves and the residents, who rely on their care” says Ariss.

ONA is the union representing 68,000 registered nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
