BROCKVILLE, GANANOQUE, ON, October 5, 2026 – The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) is seeking a fair new collective agreement for registered nurses (RNs) and is entering conciliation talks with the Leeds & Grenville Community Family Health Team (LGCFHT) today.
“These eight RNs play a vital role on a multi-disciplinary team providing primary care to approximately 7,000 patients in Brockville and Gananoque,” says ONA Provincial President Erin Ariss, RN. “We are pleased to report that so far, nurses have seen a very productive and respectful round of negotiations during three days of bargaining. We are optimistic that this employer will come to conciliation with a respectful offer that recognizes the skills and value the nurses bring to their patients and this team.”
Ariss adds that, “the patients who rely on these family health team nurses already know the benefits of having them provide primary care. Patients accessing that care through both the Gananoque and Brockville offices are relying on that care continuing.”
The RNs conduct assessments, take patient histories, perform a number of procedures, conduct health education and counseling and provide immunizations, among other things.
“ONA members look forward to a productive and successful day of conciliation today,” says Ariss. “At a time when the province is trying to connect all Ontarians to primary care, these RNs are dedicated to doing their part and expect to be valued with a fair new contract.”
ONA is the union representing 68,000 nurses and health-care professionals, as well as 18,000 nursing student affiliates, providing care in hospitals, long-term care facilities, public health, the community, clinics and industry.
