Over 6,000 Ontario Health atHome (OHaH) ONA members are entering provincial bargaining. Take an active role in the campaign.

There is a lot at stake in this first round of provincial bargaining for OHaH members. With nearly 6,000 members coming together from 17 former Bargaining Units, we have an opportunity to build a strong campaign and win meaningful improvements. But reaching a large and dispersed membership will require members stepping up to organize their coworkers and build power through. Booked-off members will be at the heart of this work.

Member book-offs will be trained on:

How to build power at the Bargaining Unit level by learning the specific skills necessary to engage and connect with their coworkers.
Developing the structures needed to take on increasingly impactful actions.

To make meaningful strides towards high participation in the sector, two members will be booked off from each Bargaining Unit for the duration of this bargaining campaign.

Details

This is a temporary secondment role negotiated with your employer by your Labour Relations Officer.
Exact dates are to be confirmed. We anticipate seconded members will join the campaign from October 5, 2026, to April 16, 2027; a total of 13 weeks in 2026 and 15 weeks falling in 2027.
Members will work full-time hours, Monday to Friday with flexibility. Some evening work is required.
Two members from each Bargaining Unit will be seconded for a total of 34 workplace book-offs.
Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Teams, Zoom, and social media platforms required; a laptop will be provided for the duration of the secondment.
An equity lens will be applied to reflect the diversity of our membership, including race, language, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, and age.

Member book-offs will be on-boarded by and work with the Government Relations and Mobilizing Team.
A three day, in-person training will be provided in Toronto. Dates are to be confirmed.
Members will be trained in organizing methods, including building and maintaining structures, and tracking and building participation within their Bargaining Unit.
Members will receive ongoing mentorship and support from ONA staff.
At the conclusion of the campaign, book-offs will have the opportunity to come back together in Toronto for a debrief and next steps training day.

Take on a leadership role and work in tandem with other booked-off members to deep organize your Bargaining Unit and achieve high participation in all aspects of the campaign.
Frequently connect one on one with other members or in group meetings.
Participate in developing and maintaining an organizing list to chart and build collective power in your Bargaining Unit.
Consistently support Bargaining Unit, regional, and provincial bargaining action teams.
Play an active role in actions and attend evening action team meetings.
