Hundreds of Nurses, Health-Care Professionals Hold Vigil for Violence Survivors

TORONTO, ON, November 4, 2025 – Hundreds of nurses and health-care professionals from across the province are holding a vigil at the Nathan Phillips Square to commemorate and honour the lives of those impacted by violence. They are pushing for the implementation of safe staffing levels to help protect health-care workers, as part of a new campaign.

Nurses from Region of Waterloo Public Health Call for Better Funding at the Community and Health Services Committee

WATERLOO, ON, October 7, 2025 – Today, representatives from the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) are making a deputation to the Community and Health Services Committee at the Region of Waterloo about nurses bargaining a new collective agreement with the Region of Waterloo Public Health. Ahead of conciliation, 92 per cent of the nurses signed and delivered a petition to call on the committee to increase funding for fair wages and benefits to recruit and retain nurses.

North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit Nurses Heading to Conciliation

NORTH BAY PARRY SOUND DISTRICT, ON, September 26, 2025 – The Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA), the union representing 63 registered nurses (RNs) and one nurse practitioner (NP) working to provide a wide range of public health care and services to residents of 31 municipalities, six First Nations communities and four other areas, is entering conciliation on September 29 in an attempt to reach a respectful collective agreement with North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit. The nurses are seeking a contract that provides wage increases following 12 years of contracts that have failed to keep up with inflation, representing a pay cut in real terms.
